Board of Education

The Hamden Board of Education is an incredibly dedicated group of Hamden citizens who care deeply about public education in our town, and work tirelessly on efforts that will help our schools to be exemplary in every way.

(So you know, the BOE members are a lot better looking than their serious Zoom faces above would suggest,! Currently, online meetings are the only way we can safely conduct business during the COVID-19 pandemic, but the upside to online meetings has been a huge increase in public attendance!)

Our Board of Education is composed of nine elected officials and two student representatives. The Board is responsible for setting district policies and budget and helping to determine many other aspects of the school district's operations.

There are several formal committees of the Board of Education. These include:

  • Curriculum
  • Goals & Evaluation
  • Finance
  • Operations
  • Personnel
  • Policy
  • Equity

All committee and full board meetings are open to the public.
