Homeschooling
Homeschooling
According to Conn. Gen. Statute 10-184, every family has a right to homeschool their child. If you decide to homeschool your child, please be aware that
- The district does not provide any support in educating the child. This means no laptops, coursework or special educational services will be provided by the district. You are solely responsible for finding the means to educate your child.
- Students who are homeschooled and therefore not registered in the District, are not eligible to participate in school activities or sports
- This “Notice of Intent” is effective for up to one school year. You will be required to file this form each year that you will be providing home instruction for your child.
Please visit the Connecticut Department of Education for more homeschooling information. Please complete the Intent to Home School form and return it to the Office of the Superintendent at tdonnarummo@hamden.org.
Once this office receives your Notice of Intent, you will be sent an Acknowledgement letter and your child will be withdrawn from Hamden Public Schools.
If your child is not registered with Hamden Public Schools, the Acknowledgement letter will serve as a record that the district is aware your child is being homeschooled.
