Distance Learning Artwork!
Creating great art work is always challenging and rewarding. That is especially true during a pandemic! But our students have really risen to the occasion! Here are some videos and clips of wonderful student art work. Until we can invite you to an art show (hopefully soon) please enjoy this amazing student work.

Have you seen the news report done on our student billboard designs? Here it is:
The HPS Visual Arts Department works hard to encourage the creativity of every child in the district. While we believe it is important to teach the principles and techniques of art, we feel it is equally important to allow students to develop the artistic part of the brain. All students in grades K-7 are provided art instruction each week. Beginning in 8th grade, we offer a wide array of courses for students who have found an interest in visual arts including ceramics, photography, drawing, painting and digital arts.
Five students from Hamden High School have been recognized by Scholastic Art Awards for their art work. Scholastic is considered the most important and prestigious arts awards in the Connecticut. We are very proud to have five students recognized by Scholastic. The following students were winners in the competition. Their art work is on display at The University of Hartford Art School until January 31.

Each year, the students in Mrs. Della Valle's class participate in The Memory Project. The students create artistic portraits of students from various countries around the world. The goal of the project is to make the world a kinder and smaller place through a gift of art. See the photo above to view the beautiful portraits they sent out today!
Thanks to Mrs. Della Valle and all the art teacher for a GREAT Sidewalk Chalk Festival 2019. Each year they turn the courtyard of the high school into an art playground. This year's theme was music. The students did an awesome job. Congratulations!
