The next Hamden Drive-up & Go Free Food Distribution is January 26th. This distribution is FREE for everyone by the Connecticut Food Bank. This distribution is first come, first serve and while supplies last. 

This is a drive-thru site. For everyone's safety we ask you to drive to the site and remain in your vehicles, stay in line, pop your trunk and the groceries will be placed in your trunk. 
It is one portion of grocery per family per car. First come, first serve and while supplies last.

Throughout the year, so many of our students and staff members within the Hamden Public Schools community go above and beyond. Each month, we honor a few of these outstanding individuals from one of our schools.

In January, we will be honoring students and staff from Hamden High School. Take a look to find out more about these special people - they are truly Hamden Heroes!

The Town of Hamden, in partnership with Columbus House, Inc., has opened an overnight winter warming center for the third year in a row for those experiencing homelessness in our community.

The Hamden Warming Center will operate from January 4, 2021 through February 28, 2021 at Breakthrough Church (481 Shelton Ave., Hamden, CT- entrance in rear at Butler Street). The Warming Center will be operated by trained Columbus House staff who will monitor overnight shifts from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., 7 days a week. The warming center is not a “shelter”, as no beds will be provided. It will offer a clean, safe, indoor space to protect those who would likely otherwise spend their nights outdoors from harsh weather conditions. COVID-19 protocols will include temperature checks, social distancing, and mask wearing. Hamden Police will provide walk-throughs on a nightly basis.
