Our school nurse works hard to maintain a healthy environment at West Woods School. Following the established illness protocols for your child will help keep our school environment healthy.
Please inform the school nurse if your child develops a contagious illness, has a change in overall health, or has a new injury.
No medication can be administered at school, even over the counter medications like Tylenol, without the proper written medication authorization form completed by your child's heal care provider (see handbook).
- Please remember to call the school each day your child will be absent due to illness.
- Any child with a temperature of 100 degrees or higher must stay home until fever-free (without use of medication) for 24 hours.
- Any child with vomiting or diarrhea must stay home for 24 hours after the last event.
- Any child recently diagnosed with pink eye (conjuctivitis) or strep throat must receive 24 hours of medication prescribed by a health care provider before returning to school.
Flu season is upon us. Please read this guide for parents about the flu from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Center for Disease Control.
