Have a child ready for Kindergarten (Beginning in the 2024-25 school year, Connecticut will require that all children enrolling in kindergarten turn 5 years old by Sept. 1st, more information (here) or just moved into Hamden -now is the time to register!
Hamden has 8 grade K-6 elementary schools, with attendance zones designated by address. If you don't know which school your child will attend, you can find out here.

The Vision Zero Council is an interagency work group tasked with developing statewide policy to eliminate transportation-related fatalities and severe injuries involving pedestrians, bicyclists, transit users, motorists, and passengers.
Hamden has been selected as one of four towns in the state as a District of Distinction!
For school year 2024-25 students will pay $1.50 for breakfast and $3.10 for lunch. Our district web site includes meal menus for the year and information about creating a meal account with the MySchoolBucks payment system. Please note that MySchoolBucks charges a fee for usage. If you wish to avoid this fee, please send your student to school with a check made out to “Hamden School Lunch Fund.”
Your child may qualify for either free meals or reduced-price meals. Please see the application and informational page on our district web site. We now offer a fully online application. For SY 2024-25 students eligible for reduced-price school meals will receive one breakfast and one lunch per school day free of charge. Even if your child qualified for free or reduced-price meals last year, a new application must be completed this year.
Produce and other food resources will be distributed at Hamden's free mobile food pantry.
This is FREE for anyone and everyone.
Hamden Public Schools with the help of the Keefe Community Center, United Way of Greater New Haven volunteers, and the Hamden Police Department will be distributing nutritious food from the CT Foodshare Mobile Food Pantry. This distribution will be every other Wednesday July 3rd- December 18th from 4:30pm-5:30pm. This is free for anyone and everyone. Just show up with bags.
