Applications: Quick Reference

This list includes commonly used applications in the district.  Many other applications may be used, but are department specific.

PowerSchool

Student information system where teachers record attendance and grades.  Class lists and demographics can be accessed.  Various icons next to a student’s name will inform you if the student is a Multilingual Learner, has an IEP, medical alert, and more.  

 

Performance Matters  (accessed through PowerSchool)

Student data dashboard that focuses mostly on assessments, but also includes attendance and discipline information.  The early warning indicators alert us to students of concern.  This application also gives you data on student performance in intervention.

 

ParentSquare (accessible through PowerSchool, at parentsquare.com, or if you download the app to your mobile device)

Parent communication tool new to district in spring 2024.  Full implementation in school year 24-25.  Allows teachers to direct message parents, send posts (similar to emails or newsletters), schedule conferences, and send forms/permission slips for digital signatures.   

 

 

Frontline Absence Management

The application you use to report your absences.  

 

EHallPass (secondary only)

Digital hall pass system.  Students log in to make a request.  Teachers review and approve or deny requests.

 

Everyday Labs Pro

Dashboard specific to student attendance.  Reports on individual student attendance patterns and level of absenteeism.  Everyday Labs also sends mailings and text “nudges” to specific families when attendance is concerning or at risk.

 

SWIS

Database for collecting individual student discipline information when minor or major events occur.  Various detailed reports support schools’ PBIS efforts.

 

Aperture System (for DESSA Assessment)

Teachers report on individual student strengths in the DESSA screener.  Results are used to identify SEL needs.

 

Clever (log in from clever.com/in/hamden)

A single-sign on portal where students can access their learning applications.

 

Zoom

Videoconferencing tool.  If you log in to your account, you will not have a time limit for your meeting.  If you accidentally forget  and use a free account available to anyone, your meeting time limit will be 40 minutes.

 

Follett Destiny

Circulation system used by media centers.  You and your students can search the school library holdings and access ebooks and audio books. The link is posted on your school’s web site.

 

World Book Encyclopedia Online

Link is available from school web site.  When accessed from school no login is needed. See media specialist for login information from home.

 

PebbleGo and PebbleGo Next (elementary only)

Nonfiction articles and ebooks for elementary students.  When accessed from school no login is needed. See media specialist for login information from home.
