Teacher Evaluation Plan

Like all school districts in Connecticut, Hamden was required to create a new teacher evaluation plan and begin to implement it in the 2013-14 school year.  State guidelines require that teachers must be evaluated based on classroom observations, student achievement, and student and parent feedback.

In Hamden's approved plan, teachers will be evaluated each year through formal and informal observations, schoolwide surveys of parents and students, and improvement in SPI (School Performance Index). The SPI is a state-determined numeric score provided to each school every year, based on high-stakes assessment scores (and graduation rate for high schools).
