Microsoft Authenticator
What is it?
MS Authenticator is a tool used to log into your Microsoft account. It works in tandem with your password to verify it is you signing in. Stealing someone's password is fairly easy today, but to have someone’s password and access to their locked phone app is much more difficult.
When will I need it?
You will find that you will need it when signing into a Microsoft Office app that is not directly on your district PC. This may include webmail and apps on your phone.
Can I delete the app after I get signed into my apps?
No, the Authenticator app contains a security key specific to a particular install on that particular phone. If you attempt to uninstall and reinstall it a new key is generated and it will not work. To request an old install key be deleted, or if you get a new phone, please put in a ticket by emailing helpdesk@hamden.org.
How do I get the app?
Please scan the QR code below for your phone OS. Once you have the app installed you can select “Add a Work or School Account”. You can select “Scan a QR code” If you are signing into Outlook for the first time as it will give you a code. Alternatively, you can select “Sign in” and enter your credentials.
