Student of the Month
2021 - 2022 Students of the Month
Kindergarten - Kardarsus Alleyne
I am beyond proud and excited to announce Kadarsus Alleyne as the Shepherd Glen Kindergarten student of the month for April. Kadarsus comes to school each and every day with a smile on his face. Kadarsus is the true definition of what a Shepherd Glen Top Dog is, as he is ALWAYS modeling the expected behavior! He has made tremendous growth with his reading skills this school year because of the dedication he has to his school work. Kadarsus is always focused and ready for the next skill. He is eager to learn and willing to take risks with any adult working with him. Not only is Kadarsus dedicated to his school work but the dedication he has to being genuinely kind and helpful to his friends is second to none. It has been a pleasure having a front row seat in watching this young boy blossom and grow this school year. I am eager to see what the future has in store for Kadarsus! Congratulations to Kadarsus for this recognition and to his family for a job well done with this amazing little boy!
1st Grade - Khloe Nguyen
I am so proud to name Khloe Nguyen the First Grade Student of the Month! This year is her first at SHG just this year. It is amazing to see how quickly she picked up the routines of the building, follows all the rules of our classroom, and exemplifies what it means to be a Shepherd Glen Top Dog. Khloe gives her best effort in all that she does and constantly demonstrates a positive can-do attitude. She has made tremendous progress this year in developing reading and phonics skills and is now able to apply them to her writing. I think what impresses me even more than her academic gains is her beautiful smile and kindness towards her classmates and the respect she shows to all adults she meets. Khloe is a beautiful role model and it has been an absolute pleasure to watch her blossom this year. Congratulations, little one!

London is an enthusiastic, hard working and thoughtful learner. London is a key participant in all of our classroom discussions. She is always excited to share her unique ideas to advance our class conversations. London is always eager to try new things in her academics, whether that is adding quotes into her writing or creating a bar graph with her peers! Her pride in her work shines through as she puts her all into every assignment and activity.
As a classmate, London is a kind and supportive friend to everyone. The second grade team can always count on London for a friendly smile and a kind comment. Her patience and willingness to help her peers allow her to be an excellent “turn and talk” partner, group member, deskmate and friend.
Miss Kiely and Miss Delay are so proud of all of London’s growth and accomplishments so far in second grade and cannot wait to see what the rest of the year brings!
3rd Grade - Ian Lott
Ian is our third grade student of the month for the 2021-2022 school year. Ian is a student that comes to school every day with a smile on his face. He certainly loves learning and it shows! He is one of the only students I know that is disappointed when we have a snow day because he can’t come to Shepherd Glen. His love of learning shows whether he is on the carpet raising his hand during a lesson, reading with a classmate, or crushing his next Dreambox lesson. What makes Ian so special is more than just being an active learner. He is also a true Shepherd Glen teammate and Top Dog. He cares about his classmates and teachers just as much as he cares about his education. He thoughtfully helps his peers with their work and checks on them when they’re feeling sad. Ian even checks in on his teacher, Ms. Giusti. He is extremely caring and the definition of a leader. We are so proud of you Ian!
4th Grade - Liangeliz Pizaro
Liangeliz is a kind-hearted student who always is willing to help others. She is the first one to welcome a new student and is always there when a classmate needs support. Liangeliz has worked hard this year on her academics and has made great strides. Both Mrs. Fitzpatrick and I are super-proud of Liangeliz and the progress that she has made so far this year. We look forward to all of the wonderful moments in her future.
5th Grade - Bryce Byrd
Each and every day, Bryce greets everyone with a smile and a cheerful hello. His cheerful disposition is contagious & carries on throughout the day with classmates, friends, teachers and family members.
When faced with challenges, Bryce reflects on his options and how they may impact his learning as well as the impact his choices may have on others. He is honest and takes ownership of his actions. Whether it’s tackling a math problem, building his writing stamina, decoding words, playing basketball, or using his voice to advocate for a classmate, Bryce is a Top Dog leader and role model.
We are so proud to nominate Bryce as our Shepherd Glen Student of the Month. Congratulations Bryce!!
6th Grade - Shianne Lazaro
Shianne is a kind and helpful student who enthusiastically participates in class every day.
Shianne greets everyone with a pleasant voice, and smiling eyes above her mask. She is always eager to assist other students and teachers. While Shianne is still learning all the school routines and procedures because she is new to our school, she is willing to help whenever she can, and often assists her classmates with following directions and staying on task. She also demonstrates empathy which allows her to diffuse difficult situations and conflicts that might arise among other students. Moreover, Shianne is an enthusiastic learner who loves to participate in class discussions and share her ideas in a respectful manner. She seems to know a little about every topic we introduce, and her unique insights help to elevate our class discussions whether she is sharing a special memory in Reading class or explaining her strategy for solving a math problem.
Shianne has been a wonderful addition to the Shepherd Glen 6th grade family this year, and Ms. Delay and Mrs. Williams are excited to choose her as the Shepherd Glen 6th Grade Student of the Month!
