Our Literacy Specialist, Mrs. Breen, participated in a panel at the Donors Choose Partner Summit earlier this month. Mrs. Breen spoke about the importance of children having access to high-quality, contemporary books that serve as "mirrors" and "windows" to the world around them. She even met Stephen Colbert, and gifted him with a book of beautiful poetry written about immigration by our amazing sixth-grade writers!
Ridge Hill Elementary School
April 25th is the annual Ridge Hill Art Show. Every student has at least one piece of artwork displayed in the cafeteria.
In conjunction with the Art Show, Mr. Camire will be opening up an obstacle course for 1 hour (6pm-7pm). In order for students to run through the course, a $5 wrist band must be purchased at the Art Show. Visitors who purchase a wrist band can go through the course as many times as desired! All proceeds from this event will be utilized for end-of-the-year activities. Hope to see you there!
The Rotary Club and our Director of Language Arts, Julia McNamee, stopped by third-grade to deliver some book club books that they are donating! The club got a grant to buy some fabulous diverse books for all of the third-graders in Hamden. Thank you so much to Dick Baxter and Lee Campo for visiting RHS and donating these books!
