Ridge Hill Elementary School
Hamden resident Jake Burt is having a great year. His debut novel, Greetings from the Witness Protection Program, is currently nominated for a Nutmeg Book Award in the intermediate grades category. Currently, Jake has three novels out that are all receiving praise from book journals and readers alike. Ridge Hill will be hosting a grades 4-6 assembly and book signing with Mr. Burt on March 20th. Find out how you can order one of his books using this form before his visit. Please direct any questions to Mrs. Tremper in the media center (photo via Twitter.com).
This year, the Ridge Hill PTA and their Diversity Committee are working hard to promote equity and inclusivity in our school community. While the PTA is busy planning cultural celebrations for the remained for the school year, they are also donating some great books that promote the values of diversity to our library. These Ramadan books were donated by Mrs. Baker, a member of the PTA Diversity Committee, and were presented to the media center by Mrs. Hamid. Please check the PTA webpage in December to learn more about monthly book displays that will offer students the opportunity to win Scholastic Book Dollars when they review books on display.
