An up-to-date list of students on each bus will be kept on file in the school office and with the bus company.

The Superintendent will develop procedures to e followed in case of an accident involving a school bus.

Transportation: Regulations on School Bus Accidents

In case of an accident involving a school bus or other vehicle carrying school children, the following procedures will be used:

  1. Bus drivers shall secure necessary medical attention for injured students immediately and shall notify the bus company of the accident.
  2. The bus contractor shall notify the school Principal, the school secretary and  Central Office identifying bus route numbers and location.
  3. The Principal shall be responsible for the following actions, as appropriate

a. Student names will be checked against the bus list and absentees verified.

b. Each student's parent or guardian will be called by school personnel, notifying them of the accident and advising them that they may have their child by their own physician.

c. Should the parent or guardian not be reached and the student complains of injury, school personnel shall call emergency services to transport student to the hospital.

d. If the bus is en-route to a school, students will, upon arrival at school, be examined by the school nurse, before returning to class.

e. If injuries require further examination, students will be immediately transported to the hospital.
