Professional Development Management System
Protraxx is the online application that many school districts use to manage and monitor their professional development programs. Hamden has used Protraxx for the past several years.
For the district, Protraxx allows us to plan and organize professional development sessions throughout the year, including management and scheduling of presenters, listing of session objectives and content descriptions, reservation of discrict facilities for use in sessions, and session date and time designation. Administrators can send emails to participants to suggest specific courses or register teachers for required courses. Protraxx also handles evaluation forms (completed online) and assigns CEUs with optional printable certificates.
For the teacher, Protraxx helps with the management of professional information (including certification) and tracking of CEUs (Continuing Education Units). (State regulations require each teacher to earn a certain number of CEUs within a 5-year period for certification renewal.) In Hamden, teachers can read about the content of professional development offerings, register for courses online, and after finishing the professional development activity can submit their feedback electronically, CEUs earned in Hamden are automatically entered and stored in Protraxx, and CEUs and credits earned elsewhere can easily be entered into a teacher's record.
