The library collection includes books and online reference sources. The catalog is available through Destiny. Please feel free to browse Destiny with your HPS account or as a guest user.
The Dunbar Hill Media Center, built in 1995, currently houses more than 8,000 books, periodicals and multimedia materials and is administered by a certified library/media specialist. Children in grades K-6 visit the Media Center for weekly lessons and a book exchange.
The vaulted ceiling of natural wood, a skylight, and expanse of windows give the library an open feeling.
Classes have weekly library, research and technology lessons along with book exchange time. The library is also open for book exchange for the first 30 minutes of each day. The library/media curriculum includes digital citizenship and research skills, with technology embedded into lessons. Students in Kindergarten and Grade 1 borrow one book at a time, while students in Grade 2-6 may borrow two books at a time. They all may borrow more books if needed for class projects or assignments. Students and their guardians are responsible for replacement costs on lost or damaged materials, and it is policy not to accept replacement books.
The library has 24 Chromebooks and an interactive touch screen monitor for instruction, as well as a color printer. The Destiny library catalog is Internet accessible
