I am so excited to meet you all!  I am really looking forward to a fun filled year with lots of laughs and learning.  Don't be nervous!  You will get the hang of everything and we will be there to help you!  Ms. Mule

Please make sure all your binders are set up. (each teacher will show you how they want theirs set up, so wait until the 1st week of school to set them up) You will definitely be needing three 3-ring binders that are at least 2 inches wide, filler paper, notebook dividers/tabs, flash drive, 3 composition notebooks (English Class), pencils, pens, and a smile!

Our Team Meeting time is during Period 4 from 10:40-11:26 AM in which the team teachers can meet with parents about their child's behavior and academic progress at any point throughout the year. Please contact Ms. Mule at  mmule@hamden.org or (203) 407-7232 if you're interested in scheduling a day and time to meet with team teachers (Mule, LeVier, Shilling, Camacho, Green).

WELCOME TO TEAM MULE!!!

The teachers of Team Mule join the rest of the school's staff in welcoming you to an exciting and successful year here at Hamden Middle School!

In order to ensure a successful year, in addition to the HMS school-wide expectations, we have put the following into place:

TARDINESS TO HOMEROOM

Students are expected to be in homeroom reading silently when the late bell rings.  Students who are tardy to homeroom without a pass may be assigned to spend homeroom with the team leader and given a detention.

TARDINESS TO CLASS

Students are expected to be in class working silently on the DO NOW when the late bell rings.  Students who are tardy to class more than three times may be assigned a teacher detention.

LOCKER TIMES

You will be allowed to go to your locker at the following times:

  • Before Homeroom
  • After Period 3
  • After Period 5
  • After Period 7

Other locker visits will be allowed at the teacher's discretion.  A consequence may be assigned if you go to your locker without permission.

LAVATORY

If you need to use the bathroom, you must obtain permission from a team teacher and sign out on the classroom sign-out sheet.

Do not enter the bathrooms during passing times.  Please go to your next class and obtain permission from your teacher before going.

The reason for these rules is very simple, your teachers must know where you are at all times in case of an emergency.

Please do your part to help keep the bathrooms clean and usable.  Team teachers will be checking the bathrooms throughout the day to ensure that they are kept in usable order.  Sign out sheets will be kept and monitored.

NURSE

If you need to see the nurse, get permission from your teacher.  Your passport (in the back of your agenda) will need to be filled out and signed by the teacher.

AFTER SCHOOL

To stay after school with an on-team teacher, students must sign up so that teachers may plan accordingly.  Students must have permission in advance from the teacher with whom they will be staying.  Permission must be obtained before the end of the class on the day the student wishes to stay.  Students may only stay after school for academic reasons, or if requested to do so by the teacher.

GUIDANCE

If you need to see a counselor, please let your teacher know.  Your teacher will call the guidance office to see if a counselor is available.  You will be given a pass if the counselor can see you.

STUDENT OF THE MONTH

Each month two students who exhibit good citizenship, effort or academic achievement will be selected by team teachers as "Students of the Month"

FORMAT OF WORK

Unless told otherwise, all work for math is to be done in pencil

Unless told otherwise, all work for English, social studies, and science is to be done with a blue or black pen.  Work done at home may be computer typed if that is preferred.

Student work is never to be completed with a red pen unless specifically instructed to do so by the teacher who assigned the work.

All worksheets need to have a students first and last name on them.

TEACHER CONTACTS

Teachers who are contacted by e-mail or telephone will respond within 24 hours of receiving the information.  Any parent who wishes to have a team meeting with their child's teachers should contact the team leader, Ms. Mule.

Important Team Mule Information For Parents on Homework

The Team Mule teachers remind you to ask your child about his or her homework every night.  As part of this reminder, we must debunk some common homework myths:

  • "I did my homework in school" - FALSE!  - We do not have a study hall or any other time period during which homework can be done during the day.  What may happen is that if we are teaching a particularly challenging topic, your child's teacher may build a few minutes into the lesson to allow students to begin homework so that they may check for understanding.  If your child claims that he or she finished the homework in school, this is untrue... ask to see it!
  • "I turned it in already" - FALSE! - Team Mule teachers do not accept homework assignments or projects early.

DON'T FORGET!!   If you have any questions about homework assignments, you can check the homework assignments listed above every day after 4 pm and compare it with your child's agenda.  If an assignment is listed on this website, but not in your child's agenda, ask your child to show it to you.  If you have further questions about any given assignment, please contact the appropriate teacher directly at the contact information listed to the right hand side of this page.
