Local Senior Scholarships

DEADLINE: March 28, 2024 at 5:00 p.m.!

Step 1: Read the Instructional Letter to Parents and Students!

Step 2: Review the attached list of available 2024 Local Scholarships (complete with descriptions of each scholarship and the necessary application criteria) offered to the Class of 2024.

Step 3: Use the Local Scholarship CHECKLIST to identify which scholarships you are applying to - The checklist MUST BE completed, downloaded as a PDF and emailed with your completed applications.

Step 4: Local Scholarship Common Application - For most scholarships this application is used, so complete the basic information and then go to File > Make a Copy. Make as many copies as scholarships you are applying for. Add your last name to the title of each copy. Then fill out the sections asking for the specific scholarship information. Download each common application as a PDF before submission via email. 

Some scholarships require a separate special application as indicated in the Criteria; special applications can be obtained below:

• Alpha Kappa Alpha - Sorority Tau Xi Omega Award Hamden Chapter
• Arabic Temple No. 40 Scholarship
• Hamden Black History Committee Book Awards
• Hamden High School Music Parents Organization Scholarship

• Hamden Superintendent and B.O.E. Scholarships:
  • Unweighted GPA of 3.7 or higher for each year in high school
  • Vocational Training (post-secondary institutions that are not colleges or universities; i.e. - automotive, plumbing, electrician, HVAC, beautician...etc.) 
  • Certified Teachers in any certification area (attending a college/university to become a certified teacher; i.e. - Teacher, School Psychologist, School Counselor, School Social Worker...etc.)
  • First-generation students
  • Significant Growth in academic achievement from freshman year to senior year

Tip - *Download the special applications (listed above) to your computer and then upload them into your Google Drive. When opened through Google Drive, options will appear at the top that will enable you to edit the PDF: Kami, DocHub...etc. 

Some scholarships require a special essay as indicated in the link - 2024 Scholarship List. These special essays should be typed on the last page of the common application. 

• If your TRANSCRIPT is required with the application, it will be provided directly by the Counseling Office. *No Need to Request. 

Please follow the submission process and guidelines as outlined below in Step 5!!!
