World Book Online is an online encyclopedia that offers high quality reference articles and more...maps, news, educator tools, student activities, and dictionary.

researchIT is Connecticut's free online database supplied by CT State Library.  Students can view journal, magazine and newspaper articles that are  appropriate for students grades K-12.  Students also download eAudios and eBooks.  

Research in Context provides engaging reference, periodical, and multimedia content supporting national and state curriculum standards for secondary students in language arts, social studies, and science.

Explora is a simple search tool that delivers relevant results including articles, essays and primary source documents to help students feel successful in their research.

Controversial Issues

Opposing Viewpoints is a rich resource with pro/con viewpoints, reference articles, interactive maps, infographics and more.  The database covers today's hottest social issues, from capital punishment to immigration to the legalization of marijuana.

Referencia Latina

Referencia Latina is a comprehensive Spanish-language database that offers content from a variety of sources including thousands of encyclopedia entries, an inclusive collection of images, an atlas, health reports, a Spanish-English dictionary and full text for reference books and general interest magazines in a broad array of subject areas.

Social Studies

CIA_World_Factbook

CIA World Factbook provides information on the history, people, government, economy, energy, geography, communications, transportation, military, and transnational issues for 267 world entities.

History Reference Center includes full text for more than 200 leading history periodicals, covering wide-ranging topics such as Ancient civilizations, global military and cultural histories including Jewish History, Women's History, Native American History, as well as African Studies and Arab Studies.

Science

Science Reference Center includes topics such as biology, chemistry, earth and space science, environmental science, health and medicine, history of science, life science, physics, science and society, science as inquiry, scientists, technology and wildlife.
