Sara K has chosen to come to school each day with a curious mind and positive attitude. She notices and wonders about the stories we read, the tricky math problems we have to figure out, and the classmates engaging in conversation around her. Sara asks questions to learn more and always put forth her best effort in her classwork. She seamlessly joins in and becomes a part of the group, an important member of our classroom community. Sara also shows empathy when other students have difficulty using their own voice. She shows courage when she speaks up for them and welcomes them with a genuine smile. Sara, your quiet and sensitive demeanor, kind heart, and upbeat attitude inspire others around you. Thank you for being an exceptional student and a great kid!
Maya is such a pleasure to have as a student. She comes in every day with a smile on her face, eager to learn and grow. She is a quiet young lady who is an extremely hard worker and can be very serious at times, but she has a very funny side to her, that makes us laugh on a daily basis. She is an amazing writer and often uses sparkle words and complete sentences in her writing. She absorbs everything here in the classroom and shows what she knows every day.
She is so dependable. If there is any task that needs to be completed or an errand to be run, we can rely on Maya to get the job done. Finally, and most importantly, Maya is the kindest, best friend anyone in our classroom could ask for. She is always sweet, always uses her manners, works with others beautifully, praises friends when they get through a task successfully, and helps when someone needs help. Maya embodies all the qualities that we look for in a Student of the Month. Congratulations to you, Miss Maya!

More about Dunbar Hill School -
2022-23 School Year Breakfast & Lunch
Dunbar Hill is one of the schools that will be operating under the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) legislation. Through the CEP, all enrolled students will receive breakfast and lunch at no cost for the entire 22-23 school year.
However, it remains critical that you complete and submit your free and reduced-price meal application to Hamden Public Schools in order to determine eligibility for other programs, like the Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT), discounted technology and musical instruments, and more. For more information on meals, see this page.
Communication in both directions is very important.
As this unprecedented time progresses, families will want to keep up-to-date on important information. To translate this and any other Hamden webpage, move your cursor to the lighter green bar at the top of the page and click the Translate link. Then choose the language to which you want the page translated.
