Aniyah is not afraid to ask questions, advocate for herself, and take charge of her learning. Aniyah displays her PRIDE daily by acting as a role model for her classmates. Mya Brevard from Dunbar Hill School's Sixth Grade was chosen as the Hamden Rotary Club's Student of the Month in December.
The Rotary Club came to our December Town Meeting to present an engraved brick and certificate to the winning student for their achievement. The brick will be placed in Town Center Park in front of the Rotary pavilion permanently honoring her achievement.
Damon is in his first year at Dunbar Hill and he has fit in well. He is well-liked by his peers. Damon is also a hard worker. He wants to succeed and challenge himself with more difficult academic work (especially in math). His teachers find it amazing how a student who has been to a new school for a little more than a month can be so well respected by both his peers and the adults who see him every day in such a short time. Not only is Damon a good student but he is a good friend as well.
Hamden Public Schools now offer a fully-online free and reduced-price meal application. It can be found here:https://www.myschoolapps.com/. The Lunch Menus/Food Services and Meal Application pages of the HPS website have been updated with this link.
The online application or a paper application can be used to apply. The online application is annotated with helpful information on how to fill out the application, and is available in Spanish.
There will be a parent information session on Wednesday, December 7 from 6:16 - 7:00 p.m. at Hamden Middle School. Open the linked flyer for more details.
Two of our teachers will be advisors this year - Miss Varca will be working with K-3 graders and Mr. Prevost will be working with 4 - 6 graders.
Dunbar students can join the Invention Convention's Google Classroom by using the code: nflvflo
Rihanna has begun the school year with enthusiasm and a positive attitude. She is a conscientious student who completes all of her assignments and is always fully engaged in her own learning. As we continue to review and reinforce the characteristics of Dunbar Hill PRIDE, we look to Rihanna as a true role model and a quiet leader to her peers. She represents these qualities each day and we greatly appreciate her positivity and sense of empathy.
More about Dunbar Hill School -
2022-23 School Year Breakfast & Lunch
Dunbar Hill is one of the schools that will be operating under the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) legislation. Through the CEP, all enrolled students will receive breakfast and lunch at no cost for the entire 22-23 school year.
However, it remains critical that you complete and submit your free and reduced-price meal application to Hamden Public Schools in order to determine eligibility for other programs, like the Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT), discounted technology and musical instruments, and more. For more information on meals, see this page.
Communication in both directions is very important.
As this unprecedented time progresses, families will want to keep up-to-date on important information. To translate this and any other Hamden webpage, move your cursor to the lighter green bar at the top of the page and click the Translate link. Then choose the language to which you want the page translated.
