About Hamden Public Schools
Hamden Public Schools is located in the town of Hamden, a community located in south-central Connecticut. Hamden is a suburb of New Haven,and is a racially, ethnically and economically diverse community of more than 60,000 residents.
Currently, just over 5,700 students are enrolled in Hamden Public Schools. The school system is made up of eight elementary schools for students in grades Kindergarten through grade 6, one middle school for grades 7 and 8 students, and one high school for students in grades 9 through 12. Hamden Public Schools also has an early learning program and an alternative high school, as well as a transition academy for 18-22-year-old special needs students.
For those learners no longer in school, Hamden has a robust adult education program.
