Meals for ALL students - Starts November 23rd

Dear Hamden Public School Families: 
As Hamden Public Schools transitions to a full distance learning environment, we want to reassure families during this time that Whitsons School Nutrition and Hamden Public Schools will continue provide meals to all children each and every day. The meals will continue to be provided at NO CHARGE to all children.  

We will be offering a daily pick-up option at each of the following schools from 9am-12PM: The sign-up or pre-order necessary. On the last day of each week we will offer meals for the weekend/holiday weekend. Any students who are in the buildings for Early Learning, Right At School, YMCA and Special Education at these schools will be provided breakfast and lunch before and after the public meal service

  • Alice Peck School 
  • Church Street School 
  • Dunbar Hill School 
  • Helen Street School 
  • Shepherd Glen School
  • Wintergreen School

We will also continue to offer our mobile delivered services through First Student Busses to all families who cannot make it to any of these sites. For those interested please email Randall Mel, Food Service Director, at rmel@hamden.org or visit Hamden.org for more information.  

We will provide meals over the Thanksgiving and Winter Breaks.

FRUITS & VEGGIES PROGRAM

We are excited to share a unique opportunity for our students here at Church Street.  Through a grant with Whitsons, our students (in school and at home) get to sample different fruits and vegetables on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays through December.  Some of the fruits and veggies are: mangos, snow peas, star fruit, squash and kiwi.  Each student will receive a sample of a fruit or vegetable (individually packaged), along with a grade appropriate Nutrition Education Lesson to take home and share.
