Dear HMS Families,

Did you know students can ride a late bus home on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday afternoons? Students may choose to stay after school to participate in office hours with a teacher or attend a club or enrichment activity. After-school programs begin after dismissal at approximately 2:30 p.m. Programs end at approximately 3:25 p.m. Students who are riding the late bus report to the cafeteria. Teachers are present to supervise until late buses arrive at some time between 4:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

A few reminders...

  1. Students should always communicate after-school plans with parents in the evening. (Example: Mom, I am staying after for math help with Mr. Walton on Wednesday afternoon.)
  2. Parents can help by reviewing home address with students, including street number and name. Teach your child landmarks that are close to your home. (Example: We live at 275 State Street.)
  3. There are seven late buses. Parents and students can review the attached bus routes and help their child determine the best late bus. (Example: We live on Fans Rock Road, you should ride Bus D.)

We want students to take advantage of office hours, as well as to participate in clubs, activities, and more. Late buses are organized to help students stay after school. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me.

Sincerely,
Michelle G. Coogan
HMS Principal
