We are continuing to monitor the EEE mosquito situation, and have been in regular contact with QVHD to ensure that we are taking all reasonable precautions. As a result of QVHD’s updated advice, we have lifted the ban of evening activities. Read QVHD's latest memo (October 15, 2019) on EEE.
Please continue to check the District website for updated information regarding EEE precautions and district actions.
Although the colder weather means that mosquitos are less prevalent, mosquitos that carry the virus may still be active until the first heavy frost. It is for this reason we ask you to continue to be cautious and follow the following guidelines until there are sustained temperatures below freezing:
- DRESS: Wear long sleeves and pants outdoors to reduce skin exposure.
- DEFEND: Use an EPA-approved mosquito repellent.
- DRAIN: Check and empty standing water that may have collected around your home (tires, buckets, ceramic pots, etc.)
If you have any additional questions about EEE, please contact QVHD at (203)248-4528 and visit the Connecticut Department of Public Health..
