Linedy Genao, Class of 2009

Linedy Genao is currently performing in the new Broadway musical, On Your Feet.  The musical, the biographical story of Emilio and Gloria Estefan, opened a few weeks ago to excellent reviews and wildly enthusiastic audiences.  Ms. Genao is a featured member of the ensemble, and also serves as the understudy for the lead - the role of Gloria.  During her time at Hamden High School, Linedy was actively involved in the theater department (Mainstage Ensemble) performing lead roles in Damn Yankees (Lola), To Gillian On Her 37th Birthday (Esther) and How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying (Smitty).  She sang the national anthem at numerous events including graduation.  Through her work in On Your Feet, Ms. Genao appeared in the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade, and on television's The View and Good Morning America.  The show is currently running at the Marriott Marquis Theatre in Times Square.  The sky is the limit for this amazingly talented graduate of Hamden High School!

Blessing Offer, Class of 2007

HHS's Blessing Offor appeared on Season 7 of NBC's "The Voice"! (On the show, singers compete to win a spot on the team of a celebrity-artist mentor.) All judges chose Blessing - but he elected to work with Pharrell Williams! (See the Video of his first appearance on the show!) In an interview with radio 101.1 (WIZF), Blessing was quoted as saying that he believed that music should give hope to the listener, as well as inflict emotions. Blessing is often compared to artists like Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles, not just because he is a blind entertainer, but because of his beautiful voice quality and style. Blessing is well on his way to his dream career of being a singer/songwriter! Good luck Blessing!

Scott Burrell - Class of 1989

Former HHS grad and multi-sport star athlete Scott Burrell is now the proud Head Men's Basketball Coach at Southern Connecticut State University! After Hamden High, Scott went on to play basketball and graduate from UConn, and then became an NBA Champion. How cool is that? Scott also recently received the Hamden Chamber of Commerce's Notable Citizen of the Year award. (Read more on Scott's WIkipedia page.)

Marcus Harun - Class of 2010

In the few years since graduating from HHS and getting his bachelor's and master's degrees from Quinnipiac University, Marcus has already become quite an accomplished journalist! He's won two emmy awards, has his own Web-based national news show, and is an anchor/writer/producer for FOX CT / WTIC-TV Hartford's daily news update show. (Visit Marcus' Website and you'll be even more impressed! www.marcusharun.com)
