Instructional Technology

Hamden Public Schools use a variety of technologies to enhance and expand student learning experiences. These include desktop and laptop computers, interactive whiteboards, graphing calculators, document cameras, iPads, still and video cameras, and many different online and software applications that help address specific educational goals.

There are two main objectives that drive all of our classroom technology use:

  1. to prepare our students with important (even essential) technology skills and experiences that will enable them to be successful in higher education, the workforce, and other aspects of life outside of school;
  2. to enhance teaching and learning.

Hamden utilizes a mixed platform (computers manufactured by both Apple Computer® and a variety of PC vendors).  All classrooms have Internet connectivity and wireless access. We are proud to provide reliable wireless access to all of our classrooms with the hopes of enabling the seamless integration of technologies into classroom activities.

The HPS Educational Technology Plan for 2012-2015  describes what we hope to accomplish in the technology arena during that time frame. A new plan for the next three years will be written during the 2014-15 school year.
