This Friday, Sept. 19, we will celebrate all the great books we read this summer. Students should bring a beach towel and good book to say goodbye to the warm weather. Keep an eye out for World of Readers, coming up soon! (We can always use more parent volunteers for WOR. Contact Mrs. Church or Mrs. Vasseur.)

KIDS' NIGHT OUT: The 6th Grade sponsored Kids' Night Out returns Friday, Sept. 19 from 5:30-8:00 PM. It's a night of fun, food, movies and games for students in Grade 3-6. The cost is $5 and students may bring additional money for pizza and snacks at the event. Participation is "first come, first served" because space is limited. NO TICKETS WILL BE SOLD AT THE DOOR. Permission slips are available at the front office.
6th Grade Mum Sale: Mums from the 6th Grade fundraiser will be available for pick up on Friday, September 19th from 3:00 - 6:00 PM behind the school by the bus entrance. If you cannot arrange pick up during those times please contact Jennifer Regan to make alternate arrangements.

Hamden Family University Coming October 18

Look for the registration information in September

Families play an essential role in the education of our students. With this in mind, Hamden Public Schools has created the Hamden Family University. The HFU is a chance for parents, grandparents and others involved in raising our children to learn about topics related to parenting and educating children, as well as increase their own skills in areas like computer use, personal finance and accessing resources in our community. Click here to see the course offerings. Click here for the flyer.

Refreshments!    Prizes!    Free Lunch and Childcare!

We hope you will attend on October 18th for the inaugural Hamden Family University! Childcare will be available so your children ages 3-12 can learn and have fun while you do the same!

Our New Superintendent -

Welcome to Jody Goeler, our new Superintendent of Schools. Read his letter to the families of Hamden Public Schools here.

Doors open at 8:30 AM and student walkers from grades K - 6 will enter through the front door. Do not drop off your child at the school before 8:30 am, as there is no adult supervision.

Bus:  If your child usually takes the bus and you do not want your child taking the bus home on a specific day , please make sure you write a note.  Without a note your child will be placed on the bus.
Walkers:  Parents, please form a line and wait for your child to be dismissed to you for the safety of everyone!  If your child is a walker we are asking you to wait for dismissal.  Please do not come into the office to pick up your child between 3:15 PM and 3:30 PM.
  • Grades K and 1 will be dismissed from the lower level at 3:25 PM
  • Grades 2 and 3 will be dismissed through the main doors at 3:30 PM
  • Grades 4, 5 and 6 will be dismissed through the side doors near the playground at 3:34 PM
Should you need to pick up your child early, please send in a note. If you have not sent in a note and cannot pick up your child before 3:15, please wait until regular dismissal times as it is very disruptive to the dismissal process to call students out of class between 3:15 and 3:30.  Thank you for your cooperation with this request.
