On October 19th at 6:00pm, Hamden High School will host an information session in the auditorium for any Hamden parent of a child who will be entering the 9th grade in the 2017-18 school year. During the session, parents will learn about course offerings, class levels, schedules, sports, the arts and extra-curricular activities. You'll also learn about supports specifically designed to help our freshmen succeed as they transition to high school. Symposium Of Sound Concert - September 29th and 30th!

The Hamden High Music Department presents their first concert of the year on September 29th and 30th. This concert has become an annual favorite - it is an audio-visual spectacular full of unexpected surprises! This is NOT your grandfather’s school concert. Expect the unexpected!  The concert will be held at the HHS Auditorium on Thursday, Sept. 29 and Friday, Sept. 30 at 7:00 pm. Tickets are available at the door for a donation. Everyone is welcome!


HHS Hosts College Fair - October 7th

HHS is pleased to announce the 1st annual HHS College Fair! WIth over 80 colleges and universities represented, the fair offers HHS students in grades 10-12 and their parents/guardians a chance to visit with college representatives and learn about which higher education institutions might meet their needs and interests best. "Heroes" are selected for their caring attitudes, courage and contributions to their schools and the greater community. Two Hamden High School Teams Win at CT Innovation Expo! 

If you visited the CT Innovation Expo at the Oakdale theatre on May 14, you would have been stunned by the more than 1,200 middle and high school students competed showcasing their  cutting-edge science, technology, engineering, math (STEM) and digital arts and media education projects. Hamden's two teams did AWESOME! The Sikorsky STEM Challenge Team won 2nd prize, and our App Development students came in 2nd place in the Technology Division. The App Development students were also selected from all teams as one of three finalists for "The Big Pitch" - which bacically means their presentation was incredible! Congratulations to all our wonderful STEM students.  in congratulating the faculty advisors to the teams, Suzanne Chludzinski (Sikorsky STEM Challenge) and Nicholas Schuler (Technology), and the students on the teams:

HHS Senior Featured for Outstanding Performance at Long Wharf!

Hamden had several wonderful performances at this year's "Spoken Word" show at Long Wharf Theater - but Jamia Jones' performance seemed to really grab the public's attention, and was captured on video and shared in the press. Find out more about Jamia and the rest of show! 
UPDATE: Jamia was just selected for the state's "Poetry Slam Team" and will represent Connecticut in Washington, D.C. this summer! Congratulations and good luck Jamia!


Middle School Robotics Team Members Win Big at VEX IQ Championship!

Hamden Middle School’s Robotics Team (coached by teacher Dean DelGiudice) earned the Judges’ Award at the recent CTEEA Connecticut State VEX IQ Championship. The VEX IQ competition engages students in robotic programming and design challenges in a multi-part tournament. In addition to the Team award, HMS Robotics Team members Tim Belcourt and Matt Davis earned the Tournament Champion Award by placing first in one of the tournament events, qualifying them to compete at the 2016 VEX Worlds in Louisville Kentucky!  The VEX Worlds will feature top teams from over 1,000 VEX Robotics tournaments happening in cities around the world. We couldn't be more proud of our students!
