Elementary students and their folks enjoyed a great night of math fun (and learning)! While the kids "played" with math puzzles and games, parents participated in sessions to learn about ways to bring out the mathematical best in their children. (Oh yeah, and there was pizza too!)
On December 2 at 6:00pm, Hamden High School will host an information session for parents of children who will be 9th graders in the 2015-16 school year. During the session, parents will learn about course offerings, schedules, sports, arts, extra-curricular activities and supports specifically designed to help our freshmen succeed as they transition to high school. For more information, contact Ass't Principal Paul Giansanti at 203-407-2040 ext 5050.
The HHS Girls Badminton Team is the new state champ! In addition, Zara Ahmed won the singles championship and YooJin Yoon & Helena Burgueno won the doubles. Congrats to Coach Feldman and her amazing team!

Our superintendent, Jody Goeler, would love to hear your thoughts- so he has created "Thursday Office Hours" every Thursday morning (beginning October 9) from 7:30-8:30. Visit the Superintendent's Office page under DISTRICT INFORMATION for details!

Shepherd Glen Changes Planned

Hamden Board of Education Approves Changes to Improve Drop Off and Pick Up Areas at Shepherd Glen

The Board of Education recently approved a plan to improve safety and better accommodate for student drop off and pick up on Skiff Street Extension, in front of Shepherd Glen School.

Due to weather and other logistical obsticles, these changes cannot be implemented until Spring 2015, but Board members are committed to working with Hamden Police and other town offices and officials to assure that actions are taken to improve the current situation even before these changes can be made. A BIG thanks goes to all the parents, Board members, Hamden Public Schools' administration and other concerned citizens for their committment and efforts to resolve this important issue.

Trees Rock!

Hamden Public Works and HMS - A Wonderful Partnership!

While our middle school students learn about the environment and the importance of trees to their lives, Hamden becomes a bit greener! This video (created by HMS English teacher Kaye Colello and science teacher Danny Martins) captures some of the students’ work in developing a reclaimed portion of the Hamden Transfer Station land into an outdoor learning classroom.  The video includes the planting of a white oak (CT’s state tree) at the transfer station.
